It is December 1929 and you are a newspaper journalist. Your boss gives you a tough assignment: Provide an article that would best summarize the Roaring 1920s! Be specific! Include details from what you read, listened to, and watched while learning about the 1920s in our “speakeasy.”

The first sentence in this newspaper article should grab the reader’s attention and then dive into detail explaining this “roaring” decade! Include a title at the top that you think would get the reader’s attention. This is a Quiz grade based on content and writing mechanics. Enjoy!

  • What were the contributing factors to the Great Depression & explain the difficulties Americans faced during the Depression. 

  • How did President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal programs attempt to get the nation out of the Great Depression?  What were three programs successful in getting jobs in an attempt to get out of the Depression?  Why was it a good idea for FDR to create the many government programs during the Great Depression?  Did the New Deal programs help everyone? 

  • Look at every image in this Doc.  There are over 40 images.  Choose three images you think best illustrates or explains the Great Depression.  Copy those images, fit them all on the same page, and then explain why you think these are the best images.
