Week of February 16-20

Hey Gang!  Welcome to a short week.  Monday was President's Day!  MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!!!  I hope you watched the History Channel's programs on the Presidents!  This week, we will finish the Civil War, Reconstruct the nation, and dive into the Gilded Age and the era of Industry.  


Day 1
In Class:  Go over the Civil War Scavenger Hunt information --Antietam, Emancipation, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, African-Americans, Sherman's March, Lincoln's second inauguration, 13th Amendment, surrender and assassination...

Notes:  Abraham Lincoln presidential project due Feb 20 – Civil War Test Feb. 23 and President Research Paper Outline due Feb. 27

Day 2
In Class:  Brief discussion about Reconstruction and how it failed  -- Examine the following -- How the nation wanted to Reconstruct the Nation, Freedmen's Bureau, Ku Klux Klan, and Jim Crow Laws

Day 3
In Class:  Briefly go over Reconstruction and Introduce and discuss the Ages of Industry and the Gilded Age – The Men Who Built America Project – Examine the tycoons of industry – Vanderbilt, Ford, Carnegie, JP Morgan, and Rockefeller
