Week of January 20--24

Hey Baby Birds!  I hope you had a nice long weekend!  We come back to school after a nice week of research on our presidents.  This week, we head toward Civil War and will enter the war itself!  It is hard to believe we are in the 1850s?!  This week we will look at the events and presidents who led the nation toward Civil War:  Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, and James Buchanan...ABRAHAM LINCOLN!!!  Get excited for some Civil War fun!


Day 1 -- No School Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day...

In Class:  Millard Fillmore and Franklin Pierce due Today! James Buchanan takes the nation into war...Dred Scott v. Sandford Supreme Court Case, 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates over slavery, John Brown invades Virginia and tries to lead an uprising!  The election of 1860 leads to secession!
