State of the Union Address Current Event HW

Hey SnowBirds!  While yesterday's snowpacolypse was ridiculous, the President of the United States was still hard at work giving his annual State of the Union Address.  Article II Section III of the Constitution requires the President to address Congress and inform them of the "State of the Union" periodically.  This tradition started with George Washington and it has drastically changed over the years.  Thomas Jefferson refused to deliver his in person; Jefferson sent his messages to Congress to be read on his behalf.  It was not until 1913 when Woodrow Wilson broke the "Jefferson" tradition of sending the messages where Wilson spoke before Congress.  The President has done so since 1913.  Last night, President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union talking about a number of issues.  Last night's #SOTU and #SOTUinthreewords along with other # on Twitter were very popular; as some of you saw I made comments last night.

I would like you to do one of the following for a Current Events HW assignment.  I will count this Current Event assignment as TWO HW grades because this requires a bit more effort than normal Current Events.  Below are the instructions:

1)  You can watch part of the actual State of the Union -- Please watch the first ten minutes and then scroll around and watch some other parts to see what the President talked about.

2) Find an article or video from CNN or FoxNews and summarize the article and/or video.
