Week of December 2--6

Hey Baby Birds!  DECEMBER already?!?!  This week, we'll finish "Old Hickory" Andrew Jackson's presidency, briefly...and I mean briefly look at Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, and John Tyler's presidency.  We dive into "Manifest Destiny" and westward expansion, and finish the week looking at the Era of Reform.  The nation is moving west at a rapid pace in the 1830s--1850s, and looking to change a handful of issues during this time:  women's rights, slavery, education, and prison reforms. 
From here we move into the "Road to Civil War"...
Day 1
In Class:  Finish Andrew Jackson's presidency -- Bank of the United States and Video:  The Presidents Andrew Jackson... and move onto Westward Expansion in the 1830s--1840s. 
HW:  Please watch the Video Podcast below and enter this information in your notes.  We will NOT be going over these presidents in class...though you are responsible for this information.  If you are uncertain about the information, I have posted the text of this podcast under "History Handouts" as EPIC FAILS:  Van Buren, Harrison, and Tyler...

Day 2
In Class:  Westward Expansion in-class "project" on the 1830s--1840s.  We are going to examine how Westward Expansion/Manifest Destiny affected:  Immigrants, Mormons, Native Americans, Congress/President, Mexico, Texans, and Slave owners.  Reading the Manifest Destiny packet and class discussion and debate planned for Friday on the issue of Moving Westward!

Day 3
