The Week of November 4--8

Hey Baby Birds!  Holy cow, we're cruising through these presidents!  Washington CHECK, Adams CHECK, now on to Jefferson's Presidency.  We will also see an "Industrial Revolution" from 1793--1825, where new inventions will CREATE America.  From the Cotton Gin to the Steamboat, Locomotive to the Erie Canal, we've got a lot ahead of us.

Please watch my Video Podcast on the Industrial Revolution.  You are responsible for understanding the Video Podcast information about the Cotton Gin, Steam Engine, Steamboat, Erie Canal, and the Railroad! You are to answer this one question and submit your answer for a HW grade in the Blue Box by DAY 3 of the Week!!!!. How did these inventions prove to be "revolutionary"?  This answer should be between three-five sentences.


Day 1
In Class:  Thomas Jefferson -- The Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and Clark's Expedition, Judicial problems Marbury v. Madison, and foreign policy problems...Class discussion questions for today and tomorrow:
-In 1801, Thomas Jefferson became president, and he said in his inaugural address "We are all Federalists.  We are all Republicans."  What did he mean by this statement?
-Jefferson inherited the foreign policy problems Washington and Adams faced, though Jefferson handled these situations differently.  How did Jefferson respond to the impressment of American soldiers?
- Did Jefferson believe in a BIG or small government?  How do we know this?
-What were the pros and cons of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803?
-What is judicial review?
-What was the purpose of the Lewis and Clark Expedition 1804--1806?
-What was the Chesapeake Affair and what were the effects after this event?
