Week of October 28-- November 1

Are we already in NOVEMBER?  Holy cow!  Alright Baby Birds...We've learned about the Colonists, American Revolution, a war, and the Constitution.  NOW, we get into the details of the United States of America(n) History.  We begin with the first few presidents, Washington, Adams, and Jefferson.  We will examine their interpretations of the Constitution, their powers granted by the Constitution, and compare and contrast their domestic and foreign policies.  Presidential Projects are coming too!!!  Huzzah to the Presidents!

Day 1
In Class:  Government Shutdown Current Event due today ---- Government Test!  All VII Articles, How a Bill becomes a Law, How to pass an Amendment, and ALL XXVII Amendments!!! Huzzah!

Day 2
In Class:  The New Republic under George Washington -- History Channel's Ultimate Guide to the Presidents DVD...Learning about how Washington set the precedents and standards for the presidency. Washington's presidency ... Whiskey Rebellion, Proclamation of Neutrality, Creating the Cabinet, Farewell Address...The birth of political parties ...Leave Wonderful Washington and Enter Awful Adams...John Adams presidency -- Disney's John Adams!

In Class:  Summarize the political parties and Enter John Adams -- The Problems with France, XYZ Affair, Alien and Sedition Acts...Not Kosher...Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions "state's rights"  and  "nullify" become crucial vocabulary words
