Week of Sept. 9--13

Hey baby birds!  Welcome to the American Revolution!!!  This week, we begin our road to revolution. After the French and Indian War (1754--1763) England and the colonies were in a tremendous amount of debt.  How do you raise revenue to pay for debt?  TAXES!!! 

Day 1
In Class:  Introduce American Revolution and American Revolution In Class Essay assignment..ALSO Keys to Writing History!!!...End of French and Indian War, Proclamation Line of 1763, Sugar Act 1764, Stamp Act 1765, and Quartering Act of 1765...The war ends and the taxes begin.  War is #expensive!  What do stamps look like?  How much were they taxed on sugar and paper?   --- Crash Course US History flick!

In Class:  Who were the Sons of Liberty?  Why was Samuel Adams (yeah the beer guy) the Moses of the Revolution?  You mean he and others who went to Yale and Harvard knew Biblical Hebrew???...Ben Franklin makes a comeback to help out the colonies.  History Channel's The Revolution and reading the actual acts themselves. -- Patrick Henry's Resolved!  That the inhabitants of this colony are not bound to yield obedience to any law or ordinance designed to organize any taxation  whatsoever other than the laws of their general assembly AKA "No Taxation Without Representation"

In Class:    The Townshend Acts lead to the Boston Massacre -- Watch John Adams HBO scene of the Massacre and analyze Paul Revere's political interpretation of the Massacre.  Was it really a massacre?  Why did this violent act happen?  What was the response by John Adams, the Crown, and the colonists...1773's Tea Act = Monopoly and the Boston T-Partea!
