Syria Current Event

At approximately 9:00 on September 10, 2013, President Barack Obama publicly addressed the nation on the topic of the Syrian Revolution.  For the past two years, Arab countries in the Middle East have gone through some revolutionary changes in their governments.  Kings and dictators have been overthrown and replaced with militant groups to govern the nation.  Some nations have executed their former leaders for crimes against humanity.  The world is witnessing a time of conflict.  One of the major questions being asked around the world is whether or not these revolutions are good or bad.  Who is benefitting from these changes?  Syria is one of these nations in revolution.  As we talk about the American Revolution, we speak of an overthrow of government or social order; the same goes for the Middle East.  I have posted a few links below, and I would like you to watch/read one of these articles and type/handwrite a current event summary.  Talk to your parents about the events in the Middle East.  Think about how this relates to the American Revolution.  This HW assignment is due Tuesday, Sept. 17.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
