Week of Sept. 16-- 20

Welcome to week two of the American Revolution!  Huzzah!  We were a little behind last week so some things that were posted on last week's lessons are reappearing this week.  No worries gang!  We have a short, three day week this week.  We will continue our discussions and analysis of the events that happened in the colonies from 1763--1776.  We are especially looking at the social, political, and economical causes and effects of the actions in this 18th century world...

Day 1
In Class:  What is a Liberty Tree?  Who were the Sons of Liberty?  Why was Samuel Adams (yeah the beer guy) the Moses of the Revolution?  You mean he and others who went to Yale and Harvard knew Biblical Hebrew???...Ben Franklin makes a comeback to help out the colonies.  History Channel's The Revolution and reading the actual acts themselves. -- Patrick Henry's Resolved!  That the inhabitants of this colony are not bound to yield obedience to any law or ordinance designed to organize any taxation  whatsoever other than the laws of their general assembly AKA "No Taxation Without Representation"

Day 2
In Class: The Townshend Acts lead to the Boston Massacre -- Watch John Adams HBO scene of the Massacre and analyze Paul Revere's political interpretation of the Massacre.  Was it really a massacre?  Why did this violent act happen?  What was the response by John Adams, the Crown, and the colonists...1773's Tea Act = Monopoly and the Boston T-Partea! Day 3
In Class: After the Boston Tea Party, how does the Crown respond?  The Coercive/Intolerable Acts of 1774 -- NOT good for the colonists.  If these acts continue, how do the colonists respond?  Why do the colonists have to respond if THEY are the ones who are causing the problems???  First Continental Congress discussion comes about -- HBO's John Adams scenes of The Intolerable Acts and the First Continental Congress
