Week of August 26--30

Hey baby birds!  Wow!  Is it already the third week of school?  We've colonized Jamestown, VA, brought indentured servitude, created the House of Burgesses, and discovered that tobacco was the most valuable resource grown in the Virginia colony.  Now, its time to colonize the rest of North America! 

Day 1
In Class:  Finish our 13 colonies spoke chart discussion -- New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.  What were the reasons for settlement, how did the colony make money, what was the geography and climate of the colonial regions and how did it affect the settlers?  Where would you rather live -- a city or a farm?  Granted...this is the 1700s, not today!

EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY!!! -- Funny and factual video on the Middle Colonies in case you wanted to see it! -- Watch this video below and provide 10 facts you learned from the video -- They must be in complete sentences and consider these facts should have some relation or idea that is similar to OUR discussions in class.  This will add 3 pts to your Colonies Test.  Due TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3!!! (I just changed it so you can have more time!!!)

Day 2
In Class:  Colonial slavery at its fullest -- Middle Passage, Amistad, Roots, and Olauda Equiano, what types of work did slaves do?  Why did Colonial America have slavery in the first place?  What impact did slavery have on Colonial America?....

Day 4
In Class:  THE ROAD TO AMERCA REVOLUTION BEGINS!  Taxes, Taxes, and MORE Taxes by King George III and British Parliament!  NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENATION!!!
