Week of January 17-20

Welcome back from a long weekend after the national holiday dedicated to Civil Rights's activist and Atlanta native, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!  No other man in the 20th century did more for African-Americans than King while peacefully fighting to erase racism, racial inequality, and to promote equal civil liberties and rights for all African-Americans. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929--April 4,1968)

Day 1:   The nation heads towards reform.  Age of Reform (1830--1850) -- Education, prison, women's rights, temperance, and abolitionism
