Day 1 
In Class:  Work day on the American Revolution Essay -- Essay due Friday, Sept. 29 when you walk into class.  The essay must be printed.

Day 2 & 3 
In Class:  The American Revolutionary War


The Essential Q’s of this mini-unit are:
  1. Why was the war fought -- Who was fighting for what?
  2. Provide three British and three American advantages entering the war
  3. Provide two disadvantages for both the British and Americans entering the war.
  4. Explain the troubles at Valley Forge…Do you think this looked like it might be the end of the war for the Americans? Why/why not?
  5. 25,000 slaves and freed blacks fought on both sides. What do you think their objectives were? Why’d they fight?
  6. What two colonies/states had battles during the war?
  7. Why do you think the British hired Hessian (German Soldiers) to fight their war? (opinionated)
  8. What were the results & impact of the war?  How do you think it was possible for America to defeat the Empire of Great Britain? (opinionated-ish)
  9. Based on the “George Washington: A Warrior Spirit & a Caring Heart”, how would you describe General George Washington as a General & human being to others? (2-3 sentences)
