Week 20: Jan. 14-18, 2k19

Welcome to the second week of the Civil War unit!

Day 1
In Class:  Continue our weaponry of the Civil War: Minie Ball -- Rifled Musket -- Telegraph -- Railroad -- 1862: A very bloody affair! -- The Ironclads and Antietam

Day 2
In Class:  Antietam -- Emancipation Proclamation -- Gettysburg and Vicksburg -- THE Address!

Day 3
In Class:  The Gettysburg Address Graphic Novel  -- The book tells the story of why the 272 words were chosen based on the history of the United States using events like European colonization, John Locke’s principles of human rights, the American Revolution, the Constitutional Convention, the Whiskey Rebellion, westward expansion, Romanticism and more!  The book is more than just a comic storytelling experience, it is a historical examination of how Lincoln’s words in his Gettysburg Address tell the complete story of the Civil War and America itself.
