Thursday, April 22, 2k21 Classes

Hey #Davis8,

I am not in school today per the side effects of receiving my second COVID shot.  All good though!  Please see below for what to do today and behave!

Block 7 -Turn in your Great Depression Q's to the pile of notebooks in the back of the classroom.  I will start going through those tomorrow.

Check out the two flicks below about the New Deal and the Civilian Conservation Corps

When finished watching the flicks, check out the following assignment:  20th Century American President Project.

The Video Podcast below explains the entire project!

You will each select FOUR 20th century presidents.  I do not care what four presidents you choose, but you will choose four from the list on the document.  See the image below?  You will be creating a template, similar to that of below, for each president you choose.

Your project does not need to look exactly like the image below, but your template sheets must have the following information:
-Years they served as president
-Political party of the president
-A fun fact about the president...I do not care what the fact is.  Just make it fun!
-A picture of the president.

You will see in the document a list of events under each president's name.  ALL of those events must appear on the template sheet with a minimum three sentence explanation about that event.   That means you will write three sentences about EACH event and in your own words that explains that event.

The sentences do not need to look exactly like the image below.  You can put the information wherever you want on the document.  I do not care what it looks like, but the information must be in your own words.

At the end of the 8th grade hallway I have placed a cart of books for you to get information from and I highly suggest you use the books before you start Googling things.  If you look up information, which you are allowed to do, you should use History.com to find the information.

See those cool pictures inside the bubble font?  That's what YOU will do too!  You will draw inside each of the bubble letters to create images, IN COLOR, that illustrate events that happened during their presidency.  For example, Harry S Truman had the atomic bombs, so you can draw a bomb exploding or the atomic symbol inside one of the letters of his last name.  Be creative!

If you want my advice...I'd simply start reading about the four presidents you want to learn about and start taking notes on the required events and just wait for me to return on Friday to go over the details some more.  If you are still confused, you can always begin working on the Final Xam Study Guide!

The books and the template bubble sheets are in the hallway, so get the materials you need, but please return the books back to where you got them for the next class!

Block 4 & 6 -- Skip the Great Depression videos as we had those discussions yesterday.  Read the above information about the 20th Century American President Project and get to work!
