Day 1
In Class:  Review anything from Westward Expansion and the Oregon Trail Game!  Did you die of Dysentery?  I prefer cholera...  Introduce the Age of Reform.  What is reform?  Why do we reform things?  What needed reform in the 1820s-1850s?

In Class:  Technology in the mid 19th century... THEN... American Progress!

  1. What does industry mean?
  2. What were two effects of Elias Howe’s sewing machine & how does this still impact us today?
  3. How did McCormick & Deere’s inventions revolutionize farming? How are we still living in that world today. How is farming today affected by their inventions?
  4. How has photography changed history?
  5. After reading about these inventions, what inventions or innovations do we have today that remind you of the inventions/innovations from back then?
  6. After reading all of the information about the Second Industrial Revolution, how do we live in a “Second Industrial Revolution” world?
